About Åsa Liabäck

My name is Åsa Liabäck, and I work as both an author and a licensed psychotherapist. For the past 25 years, I have been employed at the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in Linköping, and many years ago, I helped start the unit I now work in. It´s a specialized unit working with intensive, flexible, therapeutic contacts, often in home environment of the child. In 2021, I also began working as an author, and today I split my time fifty-fifty between my two professions. It is a privilege to have the opportunity to work with two jobs that I love so much!

In 2021, I debuted as an author with the book ”I hjärtat av Ådala.” I found inspiration for the setting during the seven years I had a cottage and a garden in the Ådala allotment garden area, a place I still love and visit often. The series grew to four books and, to my delight, has been enjoyed by many readers and listeners. It’s amazing that so many of you love the people of Ådala as much as I do.

I grew up in the small town of Kisa in Östergötland, near the border with Småland. Now I live with my family in the city of Linköping, in the residential area of Hackefors just two kilometers south of Ådala. There, I enjoy gardening and the beautiful Brahma chickens we have living in our garden. Both the residential area, the house, and the chickens have inspired the new series that is now being released. In the new book, you will follow people who live along the Stångån river. Readers who loved the Ådala books will recognize the same warm storytelling about life’s sorrows and joys. It is a book about when facades crumble and what can happen if you dare to let other people get close.

Welcome to the neighborhood around the idyllic Stångån river in Linköping!

The house is so full of memories that Sofie can’t bring herself to sell it. Instead, she decides to move into her childhood home with her two children, despite being a single parent, an inexperienced homeowner, and still deeply affected by the grief of losing her father.

In the house next door, the most beautiful house on the street, lives Veronica. For many years, she and Sofie were friends, now they settle for a stiff hello. Veronica and her husband are successful and live the perfect life. But what good is that when their youngest child suddenly refuses to leave the house?

In the red house down by the water lives Lars. He feeds his chickens and sighs over the pain in his body and everything he now lacks. Rheumatism has changed his life, and he is increasingly frustrated. Perhaps it’s no wonder his wife Ewa seems to have grown tired of their situation? How do you cope when so much of what you once loved becomes impossible, and the person you used to be seems to be gone?

The three neighbors initially observe each other from a distance, but various events force them closer together. Perhaps the key to moving forward in life lies in seeking help from a neighbor? Despite their differences, all three will become significant to each other during a turbulent year.

With ”Tills sommaren kommer” (Until Summer Comes), Åsa Liabäck begins a new series set in a lush and peaceful residential area by the Stångån river. All readers who loved the Ådala books will recognize this warm story about life’s sorrows and joys. This is a story about when facades crumble and what can happen if you dare to let other people get close.
